Emergency Medical Services
Located at the RELLIS Campus, the Blinn College District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program is intended for students who wish to receive a high-quality education experience and desire to dedicate themselves to careers in emergency medical services. Students completing coursework in the associate degree and paramedic certificate programs are eligible to take the Texas certification or licensing exams and/or the National Registry exam.
The Blinn College District Emergency Medical Services Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
Degree Plan
The goal of this program is to prepare paramedics who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession. Students can earn a Level-1 certificate and gain valuable skills while working toward their AAS in EMS.

EMT Program Information and Requirements
It is the goal of the EMS Program to educate and prepare students with the technical skills required for employment in the field of Emergency Medical Services. The Program is based on knowledge and skills utilized in pre-hospital care and emergency centers.

Blinn’s EMT Program is a one-semester program that prepares students for certification by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) and the Texas Department of State Health Services. The seven-credit hour program includes classroom and lab instruction, and students participate in 116 clinical hours. Clinical rotations include riding third on an ambulance, as well as supervised time in emergency and labor and delivery departments.

The Emergency Medical Services program at Blinn College meets the state education requirements for an emergency medical technician and/or paramedic in the state of Texas. Blinn College has not determined if the Emergency Medical Services program at Blinn College meets the state education requirements for licensure in any other state, any U.S. Territory, or the District of Columbia.

The Blinn College District EMS Program currently does accept any transfer of credit into the program.
